Jonathan Talbott has coached over 250 TED and TEDx talks, which have achieved millions of views. He is a communications advisor with a specialty in all the elements of communication that come before, during and after presentations, pitches, panel discussions, and negotiations. Many of his clients are at the forefront of innovation, impact, disruption and change, for example, startup founders, leaders of social enterprises, and corporate intrapreneurs. Alongside his busy speaking and coaching schedule, he is also a regular guest speaker at Utrecht University, an oral presentations teacher at the Delft University of Technology, and a communications lecturer at Webster University in Leiden. 

Pitching for fun
There are many situations in life where you need to get an idea across clearly, quickly, and effectively. Think of trying to persuade your manager to adopt your idea, investors to fund your business, or a job recruiter to hire you. In this workshop you will learn about the theory of what makes a good pitch, and then, immediately, practice these skills. Recognizing that pitching skills can be uniformly applied in nearly any context, we take the perspective of an investor pitch in this particular workshop. You will learn how to give a great 2-minute investor pitch. How will you know whether your pitch is great? We’re going to have a friendly pitch competition at the end.

During the workshop you will form a team and create a 2-minute pitch on a fictional idea. Speaker(s) from your team will present it in a friendly, yet competitive, setting. Skills learned include: public speaking, team building, preparation and analysis of pitches, quick analysis of a business model, and, lastly, innovation and creativity in making plans. The trainer of this workshop is a presentation expert with global reach, who specializes in innovation communication.
